Welcome to Within these Walls, my blog about family life, homeschooling and starting over in a new country (again).
We are currently awaiting visas for Australia. We’re all looking forward to life in Perth, which will offer many of the things we have missed over our last few years as expats. On the other hand, I also know that starting over will brings challenges, not least a very different financial situation, now that we’ll be a mortgage-paying, tax-paying (single income) family again! Part of the focus of this blog will be on our experiences in Perth, and part on simple living.
We are embarking on a home education “experiment” with our 8 year old daughter (Chickpea) and toddler son (Bugsy) during our first year in Australia. How (and what) we learn and how we smooth off each other’s rough edges makes up the rest of the blog’s focus.
A last word to this introduction: a few of the posts will be password protected. These contain personal details and will only be accessible to friends and family. No, I’m not hiding the secret to living on one salary, nor the perfect Perth outing for families with kids, nor the secret to homeschooling success, although hopefully this year will provide me with answers to all of these perplexing questions!
